Gail did you really climb the 21 turns on tandem ? I'm really impressed because the slope is quite steep. It seems that Texas' folks are quite good on a bicycle?

We made it to the 7th turn from the top. It was July of 2003 when that horrid heat wave made it so we left tire imprints in the bubbling tar on the road!
I was head of the Texas Bicycle Coalition back then, and was racing both mountain and road bikes and doing well. I won a state championship for downhill dual slalom mountain biking. I went on to win the Texas senior olympics, bringing home four gold medals.
Now? I love to eat too much and entertain mineral people.
But...am getting back into bicycling after 3 years off the bike, I was burned out on traiining.

My new mineral cabinets, delivered yesterday.
I think it is safe to say we are ADDICTED to minerals?

That's a LOT of cabinets, but when they are full, you are going to think " I am going to take away the beds and put more cabinets!" and just then you are considered an ADDICTED!! :-)
About your collection Gail...words for what? The collection speaks for you!!!

Hi Gail,

Very impressive. When do you plan to give the bed to the kids ;-) ? Next time I'll be in Texas I now know where is located the must seen museum of the area.

Enjoy !

PostPosted: Sep 03, 2008 21:26    Post subject: Re: Gail's collection

Just took delivery of a few more minerals, thought I would share them!

A couple of our newest minerals, both of which I am enamoured with.

When in Tucson this past spring I had fallen in love with the pyromorphite below and never dreamed I would have a chance to own it. I love the size of some of the crystals.

I had hoped to purchase something from the Romero collection and waited till I saw something that really wowed me, this wulfenite was it.
My first mineral passion was wulfenite and I have never lost the desire to collect more.
Jim also loved both these pieces and was with me when we decided to add them to our collection.

Great Pyro Gail!

As the 11.091 (from today) readings of this thread evidenced, people continue to enjoy your "mineralogical hunting."

Thanks again to show them to us.

Wulfenite, cabinet size. Los Lamentos.
Really beautiful to me, the seperation of the crystals appeals to me instead of cluttered pieces which I so often see.

Fantastic Rutile, so fragile and the red Quartz simply is breath taking.
Thank you.

Tanzanite that is rich in all three colours. I have seen many, and we have a few others but they pale in comparison.
