Wow - amazingly comprehensive photo documentation of the Tucson show. And an amazingly large amount of work to take/post all those photos. Thanks.

Many thanks, Gail, for the colossal amount of time and energy spent in this report. Time is nowadays a very scarce resource so we all must be very grateful for such a great effort.

I totally agree with Matt and Carles: Each of your reports is a great adventure and shows how much you love minerals, Gail!

But ... https://www.mineral-forum.com/message-board/files/dsc_0169_208.jpg ... why is there a piece of cheese in the display?! ;-)

Well, to be honest, I don't know why. I took a photo, someone came by and started talking to me and I got sidetracked. I was wondering that myself. Perhaps someone else knows?

The fellow's name is Jim Stoutmeyer. One of the finest and most helpful officers on the Tucson force. He's been on duty for the show for as long as I can remember, maybe 20 years or more. I first met him when I ran Marty Zinn's Clarion show and since then he's treated me like an old friend. An absolute credit to the force. Jimmy retired this year and I would encourage anyone who knew him, to send a note of appeciation to Jim.Stoutmeyer at the Tucson government web site. I know we will see him as a civilian at the show for years to come, he was really a "people person". Thanks for your sevice Jim and good luck!

Probably it is a showcase devoted to Switzerland with all these smoky Quartz and that's why the Gruyere cheese is there ( https://www.mineral-forum.com/message-board/files/dsc_0169_208.jpg ) together with other items also characteristic of Switzerland, like the white cross on red of its flag...
