Hi Joan. Thank you for the nice comment. Living in such a stunning area, it would be a sin not to share. Welcome to the English side. I tend to forget the prominent link at the top of the home page. I should visit the Spanish side of the forum too, it should be a whole new exciting world :-)

Here I am at it again! Yesterday, my wife was home bound with a cold and I took my little inflatable boat to visit a private dam (about 30 km from our home) to catch trout and search for crystals. I did more of the first than the last, but still had an amazing time. Hope you can enjoy the photos.

Hi John, I am the one thanking you. It would have been useless sharing if some one did not enjoy! :-)

PostPosted: Jun 24, 2013 15:50    Post subject: Re: Quartz collecting outings in South Africa

Since my last entry, we have been on a number of 'crystal' outings. Riana often says that she 'rides on my back'; I find the pocket and she removes the crystals. Well, that is not always the case: recently she found a nice pocket without my help. She found a single point (about 1 x 1 cm) sticking out above the ground and this resulted in more than four hours of joy. Some of these crystals had small balls of green inclusions that could be chlorite. Here are some pictures of her find.

Pierre, I don't care who rides on who's back! It looks all to easy. Nice going, looks like great fun. Heading up to the dolostone this week, finally, hope to post.

Hi Vic. I often say that the fun to find crystals far outweighs their value. Unfortunately this had led to many kg of crystals that still need to be cleaned! I thoroughly enjoy your outings and cannot wait for the next post.
