Hi !
Both zincite photos are almost identical.
Are you sure such crystals are really natural? I've been carefully browsing zincite Mindat pages and have not been able to find anything like that. So I guess yours must be either a fake or an extraordinary find. What do you think?

Hello Carles,
I believe that these crystals are synthetic zinc oxide. My understanding is that this is recovered as a by-product of zinc smelting.
Thanks.
Don

Carles, I believe that the second photo is a little closer and with different lighting.

Either this condition should be clearly notified along with the photos or the entire post deleted. I can do it for you. What do you prefer?

I want to continue with the Rhodochrosites. I apologize for the poor photography of this Rhodochrosite specimen. It actually looks better in person than in the pictures, but I think a lot of crystals do.

Don,
I like your Uchucchaqua rhodochrosite. I think if you photographed it against a more neutral background the piece would look much better. I am certainly not an expert when it comes to photographing minerals, but I have found that brightly colored backgrounds tend to overwhelm most specimens. Just a suggestion.

Thank you for your suggestion, Michael. I will do it.

Hello Michael, I am following your suggestion about using a more neutral background.
Thank you.

In my opinion these last shots are much better Don. Of course the best judge is you. I trust that you will agree that the neutral background shows off the piece much better.

These definitely show off the mineral better. You may also want to try a black background. Its interesting how changing the background affects one's perception of the specimen.
