Dear gold collector and/or dealer
We are preparing a book about gold, the name of the book will be “Gold for Collectors”. It will have about 300 pages and be in a large format: 23x32 cm., very high quality paper, printing, binding, photos and text. In the attached slide presentation you can see some of the photos from the book.
We will print 2000 copies in the standard edition, we will also print a special luxury edition, leather binding, numbered for bibliophiles consisting of only 30 copies.
We already have a lot of photos and we are working in the text. If you have any interesting gold specimen that you consider suitable for this book, please contact us. We can take photos of your pieces during the 2013 Tucson Show, we will be in the Tucson City Center Hotel (former Inn Suites), our room will be number 506. You can contact us in our room or also contact us via the “Jungle Buyer” (Alejandro Stern's room 245).
You can also help with the book by sponsoring pages. Ask us how.
See you soon in Tucson!
Joaquim Callén
P.S.: I can also travel to take photos of gold in your collection.
To see it click on the image or in this link and you will access to the PPS with all the images

After checking with the author, Joaquim Callén, the people who can have it for sale (if they have not finished it) are:
Gloria Staebler - Lithographie
Wayne and Dona Leicht
Ian Bruce
Lapis
Louis-Dominique Bayle - Le Règne Minéral

Thank you Jordi,
I will follow your suggestions, in Europe first, because of shipping/duty cost.
Best Regards,
Max

As far as I can tell, none of those listed above advertised the book for sale. I wrote several an email asking - still waiting for a reply. But since the book sold out so quickly, why doesn't Joaquim Callén have it reprinted?! There is obviously the demand for even a larger second printing.....

This is how things are now:
The second edition is in process. The Callen's are working in a second edition currently. It will have a different and more scientific approach but plenty of images. Pieces that came out at the first edition but from a different vision and new images of everything new that has come out in that time.
Of course, it will be perfectly well bound. If anyone has the first book in poor condition and takes it to Tucson the Callen's will try to correct it right there.
And here you have a note of Dona Leicht:
Dona Leicht wrote: |
The 2014 book Gold for Collectors: we have sold all of our copies and even some obscure sources I know of don't have it. Joaquim has started two years ago to work on another edition of the book.
The original book had a terrible binding which did not hold together well.....I'm sure he would correct that in another edition.

Thanks Jordi for this information.
Considering the problems of the first edition it would be better to wait for the release of the new one, which if I have not misunderstood it should take place in time for Tucson 2022, not a long waiting, now.
Is the number of copies already scheduled? Is like the first edition?
