It would be fine. Do you have a more precise locality?

I am sorry, I did not know that.

I am sorry, thank you for informing me. Would my Quartz which I posted be okay, as it is not person-made?

Hi James, unfortunately I don't have a more precise location.:(

Hi James, unfortunately I don't have a more precise location.:(

I have another question: Are drilled and sanded stones as necklace pendants also person-made stones which should not be in my collection topic, or am I also able to show them here too?

Hello,

I have been lurking on this forum for years and finally decided to make an account here, so I thought I will post a short introduction following the forum customs.

Collection focus are old classics from Germany (plus Europe in general), and rare or unusual specimens from worldwide localities. I used to collect mostly micro-minerals, but have been moving towards thumbnails and miniatures in recent years. I'm mostly active in some local clubs, and in YMC (Young Mineral Collectors).

PostPosted: Mar 12, 2023 16:35    Post subject: Presentation of new members - Richard / Hello again from Canada

Hello, I have frequented this forum on and off for years, mostly as a silent observer. I am a new collector but have decided to limit my collection to Fluorite in the last couple of years.

I love Fluorite, the habits, and colours amaze me. My interest in collecting has been rekindled recently and I am looking into purchasing some new specimens.

I have recently discovered Bryan Swoboda's Youtube content and enjoying learning more from that source. Can anyone recommend similar content?

Looking forward to posting some decent photos in the coming months. I'm sure I will also have some questions for the knowledgeable people here.

In the meantime, here is a bad photo of my VERY modest little collection. Still very much a work in progress, but I love them all, Cheers,
Richard.

PostPosted: Mar 12, 2023 20:18    Post subject: Re: Presentation of new members - Kyle and Michael from Illinois

Hello, all! My name is Kyle, and my partner in this industry is Michael (K & M Minerals). We've been focusing on building a serious specimen collection for over a year now, and have been putting more time towards being involved in the mineral community. We're lucky to have grown up in and still be located near the heart of the US Fluorspar districts, and understandably US Fluorite was the first mineral variety to really catch our attention. This forum has been such a great help in finding more information on the Fluorite in our area and the critical role it played here during the years of active mining! It is motivating to find such an established community of those that admire the physical, historical, and regional qualities of minerals & crystals. Our collection has quickly grown over the past months after encountering some luck with mineral auctions, and in this way we were able to obtain minerals that probably never would've been available to us otherwise. We look forward to sharing these with you and also sharing the information we've gathered on the pieces from our local area and their history as well!

Thank you all for being awesome! We've been lucky enough to meet some very grand people in the mineral world thus far :)

A warm welcome to all our new members :-)

Chosing fluorite as your one mineral to collect is a good decision. Even if you will get a 100 years old and only focusing on fluorite - it will never get boring. Never!!! :-)
I think I know quite a lot about fluorite - and I would not call your collection "very modest". It looks like a quite good and very beautiful collection of worldwide fluorites and I hope to see some details!

And no, there's nothing comparable to Bryans's videos. Sure, there are similar contents, but Bluecapproductions is unique :-)
Bur for field trips and mineral digging content I can recommend Bryan Major aka The Crystal Collector, a great guy with a lot of stunning videos: https://www.youtube.com/c/TheCrystalCollector

Regards
Tobi

Thank you all. I originally had this post in introductions, as I'm not truly a new member, but it does feel like my collection is new.

Tobi, thank you, I suppose everything is relative. I am proud of my collection, but have been spending a lot of time watching the Bluecap content, so I may have to temper my expectations. :)

Although, I have a couple pieces on the way that I'm very excited about. I will get my camera out when they arrive, and post some decent pics in the gallery of those, and the many other pieces I have added to my collection since I last posted here.
