HI Vitor!
A warm warm welcome to the forum!
You are one of the youngest members of this forum and therefore you can bring something new to us, including your experience. Don't worry about the beauty or the goodness of your stones: every piece has its own history to tell us and therefore it has always its value. Never forget it! And there is another thing you mustn't forget: you represent the FUTURE, and mineralogy, as well as every science, NEEDS a future!!!
Greetings from Italy by Riccardo.

Thank you all, I will try to show my collection when I get some time to take some pictures of the minerals. I must say to supertxango that the minerals I collect from Portugal are from the north and nothing like the ones from Panasqueira Mine (by which most people know Portugal) in terms of quality, so don´t have huge expectations. All of my Portugal minerals are picked by me and they all have its own story, just like Riccardo said, since most of them are the result of offroad trips I made with my father (his passion).

You are right, the most known minerals from Portugal are from Panasqueira and I have seen a lot of good specimens from there. But I think that in this case the most interesting is to know another places and its minerals.

Thank you!

Dear all, I am Kászon Kovács; Registered in the Spanish FMF since Jan 2012; Attracted by minerals since beginning of the 1980ies.

Main interests inside Mineralogy:
* Systematics
* Greenland (mainly Ivigtut and Illimaussaq)
* Minerals from further alcaline complexes (Kola, Murun massive etc.).
* Hungary (entire pre-Trianon area)
* Interfaces of mineralogy with "humanities" - (history; mineralogical metaphores in litterature and essays; inspiration in art and architecture, etc.)

I have been living in Budapest, Copenhagen and since 2002 in Madrid, Spain.

Currently I am not an active collector but I enjoy maintaining the contact with the field and persons, mainly through this splendid forum, e-mails and article reading.

PostPosted: Aug 11, 2013 18:00    Post subject: Presentation of new members - Hello from France (Stéphane Maury)

Hello everybody

I am 43 years old and I'm stuck in my little corner of south-eastern France, between Gap and Briancon.
I have been collecting microminerals since 1986 and I like everything that is crystallized, from the bizarre to the beautiful quartz or calcite ... but especially the regional mineralogy.

I have a woman desperate to see me with backpacks full, a little boy and a little girl.

Regards

Welcome to this forum Stéphane. This really is the best forum for aficionados of nice crystals. Alps are very generous on this point. You're going to convince by sharing your photos and opinions.

Bonjour cher voisin,

L'embrunais est une superbe region où je vais de temps en temps promener mes chaussures de rando. J'espère que vous apprécierez FMF.

Hello neighboor,

Embrun's area is a beautiful place where I like to climb from time to time. Hope you'll enjoy FMF the way I do.

Enjoy

Christophe

Hi Stephane!
A warm welcome from Italy! You are French and we call you "our cousins"! I know well Embrun, as well as the Col de Larche, Col de Vars, Col d'Izoard etc., I cycled all over those mountains! In Embrun I slept at the Camping A La Ferne, it was 1995! However I often come to France by bicycle, I like it so much!
Greetings from Italy (your "cousin" Nation!) by Riccardo.

PostPosted: Aug 16, 2013 14:53    Post subject: Presentation of new members - Martin Rich from Austria

Nice greetings from Austria!

I am a visitor of FMF for some time, so I think it's time to get the membership for this forum.
I am collecting minerals since I was about 10 years old. Why? I don't know, may be "Morbus Mineralis" - healing impossible. ;)

My favourites are Calcite, Wulfenite, Sulfides,..., Lower Austria, Alpine clefts, Bad Bleiberg, the former area of the k & k monarchy of Austria,..., crystalography. I have a library with more of 300 books about mineralogy, local mineralogy, geology, crystalography, mining history, and tons of mineral magacines and scientific papers from around the world (I whish, I have the money, that I spent for my literature). So, I'm a little bit a citizen scientist - if you like this term.

I do not collecting minerals only for their beauty, I am very interested on their scientific background.

I am also a member of mindat.

Martin

PS: Please, do not hesitate to correct my worst english!
