We have just finished adding a new feature to FMF that allows you to download a Word version of the thread you are reading (this is in addition to the possibility of downloading it as a PDF)

You will now see the Word icon in the upper, right area of the page, next to the PDF icon. If you click on it, you will download a Word document that you can then open and edit.

When Word starts it will by default open in the ‘Web Layout’ view, so if you want to see another view, such as Print Layout, you need to select ‘View->Print Layout’ within Word.

With this improvement we hope we will solve a small problem with editing that we found with the PDF format, as the Word format can easily be edited with a number of different editing programs and you can save the thread in a layout that you like.

Thanks for the feature. But as I'm French I'm going to be the guy complaining a bit. I don't have Word on my Linux distribution but LibreOffice instead. Apparently it doesn't like the word document (mostly font size troubles). Any chance of finding a phpBB plugin generating odt documents as well ?

Hi Chris,

In fact this link generates HTML which Word is able to open, we will take a look at how OpenOffice/LibreOffice handles HTML files, probably just making some small corrections we will be able to generate an HTML document compatible with both Word and LibreOffice..

Didn't know about the PDF option... Nice feature!
I don't see these options when accessing FMF with my Firefox browser.
Is this available with Firefox too?

I use firefox. Look near the top of the page, underneath the page title, and to the far right side.

Works well on Safari and Word for Mac.
Like the layout of the PDF better though.

It's a nice feature. Usually I copy threads I want to keep for future reference. This makes it a lot easier!
