The beryl was in the British museum and then moved to the Sorbonne. The estate where this piece came from indicates that it dates back to the early 1700's and possibly much later.

I love it when one can trace the history of a specimen. I have one which I can trace back to a batch of specimens mentioned in a book of letters written at the time and it was added to the collection it came from in 1828-1830 (according to the catalog)

Thanks Richard! The lighting for this piece influences and amplifies the color of the rhodochrosite.
