Philip - I rely on the information on the specimen label from the dealer I purchased the mineral from to be accurate.

Is this the piece Philip is referencing?: https://www.mineral-forum.com/message-board/download.php?id=49848
If so, I might also be inclined to think it from Yaogangxian, based on the photo. Have I seen it in person?

Bob, Yes that is the piece in question. Got it at Tucson this year from John Cornish.

I got a similar specimen at the St. Marie-aux-Mines show last year from a Chinese fellow. I believe he was called A Du. A Shanghai based dealer. The specimen I got was labeled Yaogangxian.
I have a photograph at hand, but I don't want to post it here, since it is your collection thread. I haven't figured out yet how to upload a photo to the forum without posting it directly in a thread...

Everybody is right. The specimen https://www.mineral-forum.com/message-board/download.php?id=49849 looks a lot like Yaogangxian, but it is also true that the Fluorites from Piaotang Mine (Dayu Co.) can sometimes look a lot like Yaogangxian, so at this point I would suggest don't take the risk to change the locality of this specimen considering that there is some possibility that maybe Piatong Mine could be correct.

With all the talk about the locality I would forget: Very nice specimen and photo AM! I really enjoy browsing through your gallery!

Hi Mike and All,
I've been away and apologize for not writing sooner. The locality mentioned on my label for this fluorite is correct. The specimen was purchased in China from our reputable source and I stand behind it 100%.
As ever Mike, I think you do a wonderful job with your photography and all of us are enriched through your efforts.
Thank you for sharing!
All the very best,
John

Thanks John. Glad you could verify the locality.
This quartz specimen was labeled as "Black Herkimer" from New York. No specific locality.

I read a brief article on the Laos locality and find either online or in one of the mineral magazines a while back. And by chance found one at the Tucson show this year.
