Glad you like it!

However, I must confess that the specimen in those photos seems to be a bit better than it is in person. The blue background changes its visual appearance for the better, since this Baryte is not blue at all, a friend told me privately yesterday. So I'll try later today to get additional pictures with a neutral background and, if successful, I'll replace the current photos by the new ones.

I'm sorry for that, but as everybody knows the opposite is much more frequent. Photos that don't make justice to the specimen au naturel can be found everywhere.

Baryte

I'm referring to the post at https://www.mineral-forum.com/message-board/viewtopic.php?p=19958#19958

Somehow I've managed to decrease the intensity of the background blue color and those Baryte photos are now less nice, yet closer to reality. Unfortunately repeating the shots against a white or gray background doesn't produce the same result, it's indeed poorer, so I've finally taken the software approach in order to have the pictures fixed. The old photos have been already replaced by the new ones.

I must say, Carles, you have a great eye for aesthetics and well as being an excellent photographer. All of your specimens indicate great care in the selection process. I expect that it would be a very pleasing experience if one were able to view your entire collection in person. Thank you for sharing these images with us.

Carles,
This is a very nice specimen. I hunt for combos from Xuebaoding, and I know these are not at all common. And with the added bonus of the species being so close together, you couldn't ask for better. Congratulations!

Hi!

This is a rather small and modest specimen and so not very pricey but is indeed really nice to look at. Better in person.

Thanks Bob once again for your kind comments.

Andradite, barite, quartz

Dark green to greenish-black rhombic dodecahedral {110} andradite crystals with Baryte and quartz. Overall size: 76 mm x 70 mm x 56 mm. Longest andradite crystal edge: 24.5 mm. Calculated crystal size (assuming it's regular): 57 mm high. Weight: 401 g.

These are very large crystals for the andradite from this locality (for the time being). The small lighter green crystals that can be seen at the bottom of the specimen's front view might be a second generation of andradite with a slightly different chemical composition.

Huanggang Mine (Huanggangliang Mine), Hexigten Banner (Keshiketeng Co.), Ulanhad League (Chifeng Prefecture), Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China.

Carles, i can only repeat what i told you yet via email: An absolutely beautiful garnet specimen!

1.) the contrast between the dark andradites and the green and white parts of the matrix,
2.) the intergrowing of the andradites,
3.) the pattern on the crystal faces.

Splendid specimen!
