We configured the forum not allowing users to edit or delete their own posted messages. We decided this to avoid broken messages: if you edit a posted message, the posted answers to that message could loose their meaning.
Anyway, since now you're able to edit a message you posted, if there is no answer to that message. So after posting a message, you'll be able to arrange any mistake you see in its text before any answer is posted. _________________ Joan Fabre

I had just used the editing option this morning, Jordi, to make two typographical corrections to the latest message I had just posted on the palladium-gold topic, and it worked fine then to edit & correct the message. Thanks for your efforts,
Pete |

Thanks Pete but you be moderator, so you have the right to edit all messages. Unfortunately the trouble exist and is related with users.

Alfredo,
On the meantime you can edit only the messages of the section moderated by you ( Questions about mineral specimens). Pete can edit all posts because is an all Forum moderator.
We will try to solve it ASAP.

We have now made it possible for people to edit their own messages. But there is on important limit on this capability - you can only edit them before some one else replies to them.
We have done this for the following reason: when you edit the message no notification of the edit will be sent or received. So were people able to edit messages at any time we could end up with situations where the responses to a message make little sense or even the whole debate could be rendered confusing. So, for example, if someone removed a photo after people has responded to it, it could leave people confused.
So you can edit your messages up until the moment when someone responds to them. This enables people to correct any errors they spot or add things they had forgotten, but the structure of the Forum will remain consistent.
Regards

How can I delete an unintentionally doubly sent post? I can only edit it, but can not find a way to delete it.

You can't Volkmar because some answers were already posted after that message :

We already fixed it, no worries. |
