Fred, what if we start with a crash course on how to take decent photos of bargain specimens in the Annecy area? ;-)

Another odd termination from Chivor. Crystal is clear and double terminated.
Host rock is gray shale.

For those who are interested, there is an in depth article on the history of the Chivor mining area in the last issue of the Gems & Gemology journal:
https://www.gia.edu/gems-gemology/summer-2016-rainier-footsteps-journey-chivor-emerald-mine
(link normalized by FMF)
This article focuses on Peter W. Rainier who directed the mining area of Chivor between 1926 to 1931.
Peter Rainier had a life that Indiana Jones would have been jealous of.

Aggregates in parallel growth.
The creamy/lustrous dolomite reminds me of the material coming from Piedra de Chulo but that's only a guess.
Host rock is grey shale.

I believe the "carving marks" featured on the termination of this Beryl crystal are of the same nature as the hollow crystal phenomenon (I would like to hear some opinions on this!).

Host rock is grey shale.

Yes, a Barcelona-based dealer whose initials just happen to be J.F.

Crystals with pointed terminations are only found in La Pita.
They are called locally "Botella" (bottle).
Matrix specimens are rarely seen.

Hello Pierre!
Thanks for showing your appreciation for this... single crystal or aggregate (am not too sure what this form should be called!).
It's definitely an oddity in the world of emerald.
A remote variety of this form is shown in the attached image - that's also from La Pita.
Although the crystal has the usual flat basal pinacoid termination, the faces parallel to the c-axis... are not parallel! Instead they are slightly curved. I have seen this feature only in La Pita.

Hi Gérard. I find this last emerald specimen, as the other similar one, VERY interesting. I want to say lots of nice things about these specimens but words fail me:-)
