Which kind of makes the point about Manganese Oxides! Stank Calcites included with Oxides of Iron are red.

The iron oxides could be also black or blackish.

A new Fluorite, this time from the Hesselbach Mine, Ödsbach, Oberkirch, Black Forest, Baden-Württemberg, Germany
Also an unusual French Septarian nodule lined with tiny caramel coloured Baryte crystals, the locality is given as Arnayon, Rhône-Alpes, Drôme, Can anyone confirm, deny or give any more information on this locality?

Thanks for the help on the locality of the nodule Tobi I guess the wrong locality is given because of the status of the real one, how sad. I read that the blue Fluorites from Hesselbach were pretty sought after, I was very pleased to add this to my collection, it has a very clean and well formed display face.
Thanks for the kind words on my photography Gneissware, its all digital trickery really, I use a Fuji s9500 on super macro setting with a Raynox DCR250 super macro conversion lens on top of it, compose an image stack of around 50 or so images in combinez and then I sit with the specimen in one hand, laptop in the other and use windows live to adjust the colour and brightness till the photo looks the same as the specimen, well on my screen anyway.
Finally for today while im showing off my St Marie Aux Mines 2012 pieces, this piece came with the locality of Asturias, Spain, can anyone help with a mine?

Sure, is from La Viesca Mine, Huergo, La Collada mining area, Siero, Asturias, Spain.
You can know more about this mine with the text that FMF-Spain added to Mindat: https://www.mindat.org/loc-11530.html and you can know more about the pockets of this mine using: "La Viesca Mine and the finds made there"

Indeed they are. The most famous fluorites from Black Forest come from Clara Mine, but the Hesselbach Mine did not produce that much material, so the blue/green fluorites from there are quite rare and highly desired by fluorite and /or German classics collectors (i still do not have one). Congratulations to that specimen!

Hi Jordi,
I kind of guessed you'd be able to pinpoint the mine for me, I will write my label for that piece now I have all the locality information. Im very grateful to you for helping out.
Hi Tobi,
I didn't realize Hesselbach Fluorite's were so desirable until after I bought it, I got to pick the best one from a handful of specimens, given how little I paid for it (i cant remember exactly but it was around 15 euro's) I feel very lucky to have one this good.
I have a very odd Fluorite from the Clara mine, it's a micro mount, the Fluorite looks like a mass of tiny white worms in little vug's a few millimeters across I wondered if the worms are a second generation brought about from the dissolution of other crystals, it is very hard to photograph as the crystals are so small and they are white on a white matrix, ill have a try though and post here if I have any success.

Hi,
According with Jordi´s description I have changed the locality in the caption of your picture of La Viesca fluorite. Pictures in this section go to FMF Gallery and it´s important that they have the greater amount of information.
Congratulations, nice specimen from La Viesca Mine !
Regards.

Thanks for sorting the la viesca Fluorite supertxango it is a lovely piece and im very glad to have it in my collection.
I took some pics of the weird Clara Mine Fluorite "Worm's" the photo's are'nt brilliant but you can get the idea, there are micro fluorite cubes elsewhere on the piece.
Next up is a lovely little micro of Galena on Quartz from the Smallcleugh Mine at Alston in Cumbria, then a close up showing what Ive assumed to be a second generation of Galena on the main cube, note the octahedraly modified edges, nice!.
And I thought Id add a couple of local Calcite's for your viewing pleasure, there are a number of strange habit's of calcite around these part's
The first photo show's one that I (Like many others before me) mistook for Hemimorphite the first time I came across it, the calcite in the first photo show's mild yellow fluorescence under LW UV. The close up is'nt a great picture but it shows why I thought it was Hemi.
The second Calcite has another fairly odd habit that is fairly common locally, they sometimes look like flower's.

Thanks Phil, Those Baryto's are quite hard to photograph, I got lucky with that photo I think.
For today here are a couple of thumbnail specimens, First up is a Rhodochrosite on Baryte from the N'Chwaning II Mine then a Staurolite from Cherokee Co, I love Staurolite, its such a mysterious looking mineral, the way the twinning is so precise and the way it sticks out of the matrix, it just looks so surreal.
Any ideas on a more specific locality for the Staurolite would be greatly appreciated and any ideas on the stuff that appears to be a black cubic mineral(?) on the N'Chwaning II piece would be good too, I got it on ebay for cheap and if memory serves no information beyond N'Chwaning II came with it. I think Ill try and put more of my thumbnails up, the numerical bulk of my collection is now in thumbnail size, Im not sure how many though, maybe 2000 or so, the number keeps getting bigger as I trim larger specimens down.
