Hi everyone
The volume dedicated to quartz (with some details of other minerals of silica) of the Minerales y Minas de España was just published. Like the other volumes in the series, it is hardcover bound, cloth with dust-jacket . This volume has a total of 399 pages, including 31 color plates, with 64 photographs. Each plate has captions in English. The bibliography is extensive, with about 700 references.

Some very unique varieties of quartz appear in Spain, such as the "hyacinth Compostela" or blue quartz crystals, which are found in few other places in the world. There are also localities for quartz gems, like amethyst, some worked since Roman times, and they were among the most important localities in the world until the early nineteenth century.

The book is published by the Fundación Gómez Pardo- Escuela de Ingenieros de Minas de Madrid, and can be purchased by mail. The cost is 40 euros plus postage.

Hi Miguel and all

Just received my copy of this Quartz volume.
This is simply another great book in the series.

To those collectors who haven't already acquired the set you should do so.

While the text is written in Spanish, the volumes are a great source of information on Spanish minerals and with a little effort (such as using a Spanish dictionary) it is easy enough to translate sufficient for most needs.

Well done again

Cheers
Keith
