I wonder if anyone who went to Munich show has any news of a new find of fluorite from Huanggang mine? Specimens I've seen are on bladed calcite. The fluorite crystals are green, purple zoned with trisoctahedral crystals.

Also heard rumours that production in the mines is put on hold for the immediate future? Any confirmation on that?

At least it is a eye-catching fake;-) In my opinion, specimens like this usually do not even need closer inspection, as they are by far much too "beautiful" to be the real thing. The layout of the hole thing so to speak just does not look natural.

By the way, I was truly amazed how many HIGHLY suspicous looking Emerald specimens were to be spotted, even in the Pavilon-zone with all the prestigious "Natural Art Dealers!"
I saw just one there marked as "repaired" (although an outright and plain glue job), but at least that.
Sometimes I am really wondering whether they do not know better or what happens there so far

Buenas noches Minsur
Eye-catching is an understatement - I saw that specimen at 4 different shows and the first impression was always the same. A really unique piece.
There was no point talking to the dealer about my suspicions - that was the only emerald specimen he had on display.
Colombian "craftsmen" are using more and more a cement adhesive mixed to crushed calcite or albite which of course makes the identification more difficult for the untrained eye.
Useless to say that emeralds account for a tiny fraction of the mineral specimen business and more and more dealers are now reluctant to take the risk of offering in-matrix specimens unless there is no doubt on their origin.
That does not prevent some man-made specimens to be on display at the most prestigious shows but a large amount of those specimens (impossible to give numbers here...) are sold informally in Bogota and around the mining areas.
The safest way to get emerald specimens is to know your source.

What an insane fluorite and smoky quartz combination on munich2016-105.jpg, how large was that world-class specimen?

Thanks Pierre.

Hi,
Feldspars are by far the most important constituents of the rocks of the Earth's crust.
Despite this fact, they do not often appear on the shows. This is due to the fact that Nature does not isolate them as easily as quartz or sulphides.
They enter into solid solutions which are characterized in ternary diagrams with orthoclase-albite-anorthite as limits. Temperature plays an important role.
