Quartz from La Belleza, Vélez, Santander Department, Colombia. (Nº-29).

Transparent Quartz crystal with regular hexagon cross section and a great white phantom showing the pyramidal internal faces. With more little crystals downstairs. It is flawless all around.

This comes from La Belleza (The Beauty) also a new Colombian locality in my collection.
Now I know that some of the specimens i have labeled only from Santander Department come from this little municipio at the south of Santander, nearby the municipio Bolívar and the municipio Florián where there are quartz areas.

Thank you very much Pierre.

Glad that you like.

I was able to obtain four specimens from the same find with the white phantoms. The dealer had eight units and didn´t want to sell me any more, but i was lucky to purchase these crystals.

Kind regards.

Stichtite from Barberton, Mpumalanga Province, South Africa.

Uncommon carbonate of chromium and magnesium that comes from only a very few sources, and named after Robert Sticht, director of a mining corporation.

Lilac to pale pink coloured showing a pearly aspect and a greasy touch. It´s a fibrous, flexible and floating specimen of this mineral with a very low hardness between 1,5 and 2.

Quartz from Bolívar, Vélez, Santander Department, Colombia. (Nº-33).

One of my biggest doubly terminated quartz crystal has an extreme with two pyramids and some rainbows. Also has three internal fractures, two of them are parallels, one is obvious by touch and the smaller one looks like a shiny cloud and is as nice as hard to photograph.

It´s untouched; it is difficult because the miners don´t take usually care. In the label the weight: 453 gr.

Franjungle, Nice quartz examples, but I do not agree that your last pictured example is "milky quartz" at the base. To me it is cloudy or partially translucent quartz, but not milky.

The terminology may be semantics and nothing more, but I reserve the term "milky quartz" for fully saturated quartz crystals with the color white. BOB

Faden Quartz from Muzo, Boyacá Department, Colombia. (Nº-1).

Couple of slim and flat doubly terminated Quartz crystals. The faden line is a white thread running through both main crystals.
One of them looks like a rocket with three termination points together. Each principal is 7 mm depth.

Hi Franjungle, are these Columbian quartzes a by product while miners look for emerald or do they specifically mine for this quartz?
