Firmo,
I can't help but note that you are completely right with the format of specimen dimensions. A notation such as 20 mm x 6 mm x 14 mm is the correct one, no matter which unit you use, mm, cm or m.
Writing something as 20 x 62 x 14 mm, although everybody understands it, is improper and not mathematically rigorous since 20 and 62 are also mm each and so the unit symbol cannot be omitted. Another way to put it would be (20 x 62 x 14) mm with a 3 as superindex, but unfortunately I can't find the way for FMF to interpret the HTML code <sup></sup> while surprisingly it does understand the subindex, like mm3.
More details at http://physics.nist.gov/cuu/Units/checklist.html (go to item #12, Math notation).
Mindat.org photo galleries use the right notation too.

Hi Carles.
Thank you very much for your interesting post.
I didn´t know the link you give us, but item #12 is so clear.
I remember i read something about this theme precisely in your collection thread.
Also my math mind always tries to measure according to the coordinate axes X - Y - Z, width, height, depth.
These are two reasons that lead me to use that notation. I´m very glad that it is the correct format.
Best regards.

As an individual and (if permitted) as a site admin, I encourage all the FMF members to also use the right notation.

There was a find a few months ago in Colombia of those.
But when found they are all covered in Goetite.... sadly some sellers in Colombia didn't like that dark look (after realizing they were Pyrite inside) and "cleaned" them.
I managed to get a few original from that find.
But of the "cleaned" ones I saw I'm not sure if they used chemicals or even in cases abrasives.
I hope you will at some point get one that hasn't been meddled with!
See also this article on the "iron cross twins":
http(:)//www(.)mcdougallminerals(.)com/blog/tag/pyrite-iron-cross-twin/
"These were being sold as “limonite” pseudomorphs after pyrite, but they are not. They are pyrite crystals with a thin surface veneer of goethite."
...where there are good images of those, as they are supposed to look... before anyone has removed the Goetite :-)

Hi Firmo!
Hunan is a rather large territory, with 210 000 km² and over 67 million people. Don't you know the precise locality? Did you look it up at Mindat?

Hi Carles.
Always nice to hear from you.
I’ve only seen similar ones forming something like “Aztec pyramids” coming from the Yaogangxian MIne, Yizhang, Prefecture Chenzhou, Hunan Province, China.
But the cubes that form these crystals are smaller and these octahedrons are more accentuated than what I could see from Yaogangxian Mine.
And I haven’t found anything like these heliports at all vertexes.
I really look forward to limit the locality, but I’m just sure of this origin that appears on the label.
Perhaps someone may express their opinion?
