Quartz (variety prase) and Microcline from Estella, Navarre, Spain.

Gray quartz needles naturally broken by matrix movements on the rise to the surface. Small white Microcline crystals are also present on the quartz taking butterfly profiles.

From a new find, occurred in 2017, comes this strange material in the Spanish mineralogy.

Topaz from Brazil.

Clear orange Topaz crystal (Imperial Topaz) with pyramidal termination and yellow, orange and red inclusions.

Ex - Joan Astor, who was a great Spanish collector. I´m happy to have been able to acquire this. Enric Kucera, an old and known dealer, sold this topaz to Mr. Astor in 1975.

It´s most likely from Ouro Petro, Minas Gerais, Brazil, but the original label only says Brazil.

Aragonite from Spain.

With me maybe nearly 45 years. I´ve found my first mineral that I can remember.

It´s a prismatic Aragonite crystal most likely from Guadalajara Province in Spain, but I don´t know. I´ve placed this “historic piece” on a plinth and I´ve dated it around 1975.

Hello Firmo,

The hexagonal patterns on the face remind me of benzene rings, distorted of course ;-)

Stay safe.

Regards,

Don

Hi Don.

Nice to hear from you.

Perhaps Kekulé had his own Navajun pyrite before the dream where atoms danced until they united and closed the ring of the benzene structure ;)

There are mineral shapes that can be very inspiring.

Hi Tobi.

The state of alarm for Covid-19 and this quarantine is allowing me to rummage and dig through the boxes of minerals I have.

And it’s great to discover old pieces you had no memory of.

The aragonite in question is broken and has several nicks, but as a child I found amazing the hexagonal prism formation, although very blurred, and its straight lines.

Regards to Germany.

Hi Firmo, I think terms of quality that you developed as an experienced collector are not important when you look back on your first rock. My first one is just a tiny 4 cm Huanzala pyrite and I keep it in a box in the bottom of my showcase. It may have a "value" of 50 Cent but it is a precious memory of my first encounter with minerals and of the beginning of a life-long passion :-)

Best regards back to Colombia
