Greetings All,
I have been interested in what causes the yellow colour of some cerussite specimens for quite a while. Also wondering why some of the yellow cerussites exhibit cyclic crystallization habits.
Looking at some of the more recent published data, they seem to conclude that the Cr levels are too low to give the colouration.
In 1988 I did some undergrad work on this using both AAS and electron spin resonance. Data was all hard-copy so difficult to superimpose ESR spectras of crocoite and yellow cerussite.
Does anyone know if more recent work has combined a number of different techniques to look at this issue.
This is particularly relevant as the key chromophoric mechanisms are caused by electron transfers.
