Hi. I'm new to the forum. Please excuse my lack of knowledge. I'm a CPA I do estate evaluations. Come across minerals occasionally which I'm very interested in but don't have time yet to learn more. Came across this piece, I don't even know if it is a mineral? It is beautiful cobalt blue and emerald green. Has a very glassy surface and it quite heavy weighting 511 grams. Any ideas?

Sorry to inform you it is most probably glass and definitely human made - not a mineral.

It appears to be slag.

And with such nice shades of color, it's likely to be some kind of leftover glass from a glassworks making decorative/ornamental glass, as opposed to true "slag" that are the leftovers from a mining & smelting operation--those are usually darker colored, sometimes black and opaque and very heavy, or dull and cloudy, brownish, brownish green, etc.
I'm never sure if these "pretty chunks" like this are true leftovers, or are made that way on purpose to sell as decorative rocks.

Thanks for your input. It makes perfect sense it came from an area where there was glass making industry. Thanks
