I tried to make my own photos of that quartz specimen, but it's not easy to capture this specimen. In person, it looks more attractive than in this picture ;-)

Nice contrasting specimen with the andradites on its matrix. If I am not wrong, it is not very common to see them on it -from Kayes I mean-.

Cheers

Your're right, most specimens are floaters without contrasting matrix. I'm glad to have this specimen where really good dark melanite crystals sit on grey matrix.

Thank you, guys :-)

Don, even if you consider it attractive on this photo - it is even much more pretty in person ;-)

As addition, just for fun, the label i made for the galena when i added it to my collection:

No Roger, i have no sturmanite photo. What do you exactly mean? If i can show one? If i need one? Or do you think this is sturmanite instead of ettringite?

???

I can only offer a detail picture of the ettringite specimen above:

Tobi
No, there is no doubt about the identification of ettringite. I just thought that you had the opportunity to get a sturmanite from Black Rock Mine. There is a similarity between these minerals, although sturmanite is red-brown and often less prismatic.
Roger.

Hi Roger, i have no opportunity to get a picture of a sturmanite from Black Rock Mine. Well, of course i can GET one - but i can't MAKE one on my own because i don't have such a specimen ;-)

Here's an old specimen with more and better photos, a mimetite from Badenweiler, Schwarzwald, Germany. It's the same specimen as on the detail picture above:
