New specimen - Pyrite, Dolomite, Calcite and Quartz from Cavnic/Romania:

During a rock swap with a friend yesterday, I could not resist that giant piece, which is my largest specimen now. I call it "The Romanian landscape" and this large specimen from the classic Cavnic locality appeals to me because it really looks like a "history" of mineral growth; the combination in which the quartz and the pyrite were grown on each other and then got coated by calcite and dolomite is just fascinating. My fellow had this specimen for many years and I often held it in my hands, admiring this "landscape" of four different minerals. But when he offered it to me in exchange for some other specimen, I could not say no.
Maybe not a highly aesthetic specimen at first sight, but as a mineral lover I have a lot of joy watching all the details of this huge centerpiece :-)

Thank you, Rob. This specimen was a gift from my friend and fellow collector Kai Bork who actually had it for sale but generously decided to give it to me for free. I was a bit surprised and could hardly find words to thank him :-)

Hello Tobi,

I love the Siderite piece, it stands out a lot about the Quartz matrix.

Thank you, I also like the contrast of that combination. Sure, Neudorf specimens without galena are far less valuable than the famous galena classics from that locality, nevertheless the siderites on quartz are quite nice even without a sulfidic companion ;-)

Here's another specimen, quartz from Brazil:
