Thank you, Dany and Michael, I like that specimen a lot. Sardinia became more and more interesting for me during the last years, an island with a lot of beautiful minerals. And I'm glad that I managed to make a rather good photo of this one :-)

Regards,
Tobi

Tobi, beautiful Chinese fluorite crystals, are very good, do you get them directly from China?

I guess every crystal must have at least 14 faces (6+8).

Thank you Carles, I like that specimen very much and I'm glad to finally have a nice one from that locality. Since they were discovered, I fell in love with them, both the green ones and the blue ones.

Thank you too, Dany. I think Carles already answered your question. I took a closer look at the specimen, and though not a single crystal stands completely free, 14 should be correct.

Also thanks to you, Jose Luis. No, I don't get stuff from China, I got the specimen from my friend and fellow collector Michael Ochel who lives near Frankfurt, 80 km away from me. I visit him 3 or 4 times a year and it's always a pleasure to chat about minerals, look at his world-class collection, and get some new stuff for my own collection. He is not a professional dealer but he often has a booth at shows and there are always a lot of specimens available at his home. The large smoky quartz above is also from him ;-) I've known him for 6 years now and since then, I have not purchased many specimens online or at shows, I get most of my minerals from him and from another friend and fellow collector who lives nearby.

Regards,
Tobi

Tobi, it's nice that you have friends nearby that you can visit, talk minerals and acquire some new things. Both the smoky quartz and the fluorite are superb. Great additions to your collection.

Thank you, Michael, I'm glad you like my new specimens, I really appreciate them as some of the best in my collection!
And yes, indeed a great thing to have some "mineral friends" nearby :-)

Thanks for your appreciation, Carles! The specimen is undamaged, yes. The tip is not one sharp tip (maybe once distorted during growth and then healed) but undamaged and nearly complete. There are some inclusions, bubbles etc inside, but all faces of the 15 x 9 x 9 cm main crystal are complete all around. And there is some coating (the usual chlorite stuff or something like that) on some faces of the backside so the crystal is only that completely transparent from that point of view. Nevertheless an undamaged specimen with (imho) great aesthetics all around. For me, as a quartz collector and a fan of alpine smoky quartzes, this specimen is a perfect one, one of my personal highlights in the collection :-)
