Wondering if anybody has ever seen a piece of quartz this large. It’s about 6’ long x 4.5’ wide and 3’ thick, estimated to weigh around 6-7 tons. In addition I was curious to know what it’s worth, as I would like to sell it.

Maybe it is quartz or feldspar or ??? Anyway it is verrrrry common with value only as a decorative garden rock or something similar as it is too large and heavy to move without much time, effort and cost. Other than breaking up your boulder into many small examples, these type boulders essentially have nothing to do with collectible mineral specimens.
As this is a forum that does not allow valuations, no further discussion of value will be made other than to say that these decorative large garden rocks are easily commercially available from lawn and garden centers. Check with a local store to see what they sell for. BOB

I’ll only post smaller mineral samples and not ask a value from now on, thanks BOB

It is quartz. It is not uncommon. The value of quartz boulders like these is that it is an indication that there may be quartz crystals in that vicinity.

Hi,

About the worth : a lot of trouble to move it for sure. As Pierre said, it might be interesting to have a look at quartz veins in the surroundings of your rock. If so you could find quartz crystals.

Have fun.

Christophe
