PostPosted: Sep 16, 2018 14:16    Post subject: Possible slag

Hey everyone,

I was trying get confirmation on this specimen. It is green on top with a gray layer followed by a solid black layer. The green and black areas are glossy and the green portion is slightly translucent. It appears to have conchoidal fracturing. It was found in the ramstein-meisenbach area of Germany. It was dug up about 4 feet under ground with a lot of milky quartz nodules. It was the only piece I found with green color. If anyone can give me a confidence level for slag or another idea of what it might be i would appreciate it.

It seems that there are many bubbles in the lower half seen on first photo that would reveal a glass slag.

Thanks for the input. I posted because I hadn't seen slag in layers like this before and couldn't find any images that looked similar online.
