Poor grade pyrite and galena on matrix. Not gold. Not silver. And obviously hasn’t read the posting instructions so nothing else to say on this.

While I agree that the poster has not done helpful homework about giving, us in the forum, much information on the specimen, I would not completely write off this specimen.

The fact that it was found in Nevada does provide an important clue. Nevada lead deposits are argentiferous silver/galena deposits. The superficial mined oxidized zones show the galena had altered to cerussite and anglesite, but deeper zones show the galena to be mixed with the silver, hence argentiferous galena. Lead ore mixed with silver and silver ore mixed with lead were mined in several Nevada districts. Whether this specimen represents an example of this I am not sure, but it just might be. Don't dismiss it completely.

The other Galena in Nevada is an abandoned ghost town. BOB

Steve and Bob refer to this link:

https://www.mineral-forum.com/message-board/viewtopic.php?p=19487#19487

Please read the instructions carefully and give us as much information as possible on that rock. Otherwise it remains just "a rock" ...

Regards
Tobi
