PostPosted: Jan 22, 2019 08:15    Post subject: Locality of Calcite with Hematite phantoms?

hello,

this red-orange calcite with hematite phantoms was sold to me as being from the leiping mine in hunan province, china. however, upon researching the calcite from this locality, i can't find anything that looks similar to what i have. the closest example i could find in appearance is from the tsumeb mine in namibia, which i've included as the third picture.

does anyone have any thoughts? they are all much appreciated. thanks!

Leiping Mine is a possibilty for this, please see https://www.mindat.org/photo-660560.html

However, another possibility is from somewhere in the Santa Eulalia District, Mexico. See: https://www.mindat.org/gallery.php?loc=2311&min=859
