PostPosted: Feb 04, 2019 21:01    Post subject: Hematite and ???

I was told this piece is a hiso jasper?
Turns out to be hematite with something green?
The reason why I say hematite is because it leaks out red iron when I polish it. But what is the green mineral in it? Thanks in advance.

And yet another offensive creation. Again, in my opinion, not worthy of much discussion on this mineralogical website......

Maybe someone else has other ideas about all these???????

The yellowish-green material has the look of serpentine. Is it fairly soft? (Serpentine would be--scratch it easily with a knife point.) Otherwise, if it is quite hard, a type of silica--yellowish-green jasper, likely.

Thanks Pete again . I will definitely need to look it up. Material is pretty soft and you r right, can be easily scratch off by knife point. Thanks

We're sorry but we can not help you anymore. As explained in FMF is a Forum about minerals FMF is not a Forum about cut or polished stones, random rocks, or lapidary items.
