PostPosted: Jun 10, 2019 01:22    Post subject: Hyalite on Aragonite

Half a year ago I purchased this specimen from a befriended collector.
He recently bought a few of these specimens from a person he knows, and who found these specimens himself. I bought the specimen not because of its esthetics, which are poor, but because the specimen is from Algeria, and there aren't too many specimen from Algeria available.

Algeria is not even in the dropdown list of minerals of this forum.....

The question I have; the specimen is apparently from Tlemcen, but Tlemcen is a city.
Is there a locality around Tlemcen where these specimens are found? The person who found these specimens is no longer in contact with the person I bought this specimen from.

Size: 14 cm * 7cm * 7cm

Yes it is there but as "Argelia" which is one of the possible translations of the Arabian name to the Occidental language. Anyway, we will change it to "Algeria" in order to help to find it better on the list.

About Tlemcen is not only a city but also a District as well as a Province (a large province ;-), so, it could be very hard to find out the real locality of a not so distinctive specimen.
On the meantime I used "Tlemcen Province" in the captions of your specimen just to be sure...
