Hello,

I recently purchased a baryte specimen which came with a (wonderfully) detailed label from its previous owner, Mike Groben. I wanted to confirm that I’m interpreting what’s written under “Remarks” correctly - that this specimen was purchased from a Mr. McLennan of a company called “A. L. Curtis Co.” in 1960.

This may seem fairly obvious but I’m unable to find any information regarding a company named A. L. Curtis even after scouring the internet. One of the first things I do upon receiving a specimen accompanied by a label is try and find out more about the collector(s) it previously belonged to. The bit of info I’m asking about was important enough to Mr. Groben to write down so I figured I’d inquire about it since I couldn’t find any background info myself.

Tiffanie...I also have several of Mike's former specimens and labels, he was a model for record keeping completeness!

Have you checked the Mineralogical Record database of old labels? They have thousands on line and maybe one appears there?
