It happens quite often in my case to literally dream of minerals, minerals that I’ve seen, minerals that I’ve never seen. A lot of the times I find myself digging and finding ridiculously amazing minerals. Usually I don’t have the tools to dig those in one piece. Or I find some rocks that I wanted in some flea market and as I look around for others they simply disappear in thin air. It is so frustrating when I wake up. Isn’t that crazy?

Does it happen to you too or is it just me?

Oh, yes! For sure! I always pull them out of the soil with just my hands, and they are already clean and ready to display (no stands, though). The collection I self-collect in my dreams far exceeds the collection I "dream" of actually owning, not to mention what I actually have. But I love what I have, too!

All of what you say, Pete, - mine are similar. Several dreams have come across clear, equant garnets or calcites in a clay bank, practically falling out in my hand. On the dark side, they are usually not where I have permission to collect. I know I haven't gotten them legitimately, and am relieved when I awake not to be in the bind.
Nice dreams, but more satisfying finding obtainable, less perfect crystals in dealers' rooms.

Guys, I really envy you. I'm mineral addicted for 30 years now, and I also dream a lot of weird stuff ... but I can't remember that I ever had a dream related to minerals :-(

Oh indeed. I've had more mineral collecting dreams than I can remember. There must be something to this pattern of pulling museum quality, ready-to-display specimens from the ground, because that's the essence of my mineral dreams too. No dreams of haggling over price or counting down the final minute of the Ebay auction...

Often I run across a specimen that leaves me befuddled. Should I get it or not? Usually I'll tell the dealer "Let me think about it." And I do. However, the ultimate test is whether or not I dream about the piece. If I do, back to the dealer I go to buy the specimen if it is still in his room. Never have I had a moment's regret for buying one of these "dreamers", regardless of price. Not a whit of "Buyer's Remorse".
So that's it. Kind of a weird yardstick to use in justification for buying minerals, but one that has served me for forty years or more.
