PostPosted: Feb 13, 2022 07:51    Post subject: Mountain named "Fullus / Fulus" near Aouli/Morocco?

Hi,

I purchased an agate from Aouli area in Morocco some days ago (you may have seen it in my collection thread). The man from whom I got it gave the exact locality information "Berg Fullus" (= Mountain Fullus) near Aouli. He was personally collecting in that area and on a German website he even published photos of that mountain, so I have actually no reason to doubt that.

But when I searched the WWW, I found no information about a mountain with that name in that area. I just found one other source, it's the Extra Lapis issue about Morocco. There's a chapter about agates from Morocco, written by the well-known agate professional Dietrich Mayer who also collected personally in the Aouli area and who also mentions a mountain named "Fulus" (he writes it with one L). So again a source that should be 100% reliable, but I think it's strange that I found that name nowhere else ...

If there's one person I know who I would ask about Moroccan minerals it would be our Master Jordi - but he also never heard that name before, he found it in no source and on no map.

Jordi and I assume it could be a name only used by locals of the Aouli area, maybe someone here can help.

Thank you!
Tobi
