What type of rock might this be?

I found this large crystalline rock in the New Mexico desert, (Valencia County) and I'm not sure what it is. It glows orange in many places when light is shined through it. Does anyone know what type of rock it might be. Is it just a large agate or type of quartz?

Could you please do a few tests (see link below)? Hardness (test 8) is a good place to start. If you get a hardness of 7 it is probably quartz

Just for your information, agate is a type of quartz
