Trying to find out what the minerals attached to this hematite crystal could be? Underneath looks like it may be quartz.

The reddish brown stuff could be andradite garnet.

Looking at some photos of hematite with andradite garnet that does seem like a possibility.

If you know the locality, you can go to the mindat page for that locality, and look through pictures of specimens with their identified minerals from that locality.

and may be some calcite too. I have a specimen from this place with the combo calcite hematite.
