Hello,
I have planned to visit south Tyrol next summer (Brixen area, Badia, Cortina...)
After searching on mindat, I cannot find any significant minerals from this area.
I guess that dolomite can be found in Dolomites ?
Maybe, some members may have a good knowledge and could confirm or give any data interesting on this area.
Sante ? Volkmar ?
Thank you,

Hi, Philippe.
I'm sorry but, concerning Italian South-Tyrol, although it is rich in good Alpine minerals, the area you mentioned, as far as I know, doesn't offer any quality specimens.
I'm afraid that if you want to combine holidays and minerals you have to choose another area.
On Mindat you can find hundreds of interesting localities in Trentino-South Tyrol.
Good luck.

Hi to everybody!
Ok, in Alto Adige there is almost no gemstone quality specimen, but there is a big variety of collection quality minerals! For instance, I found interesting anatases, zeolites, albite, orthoclase etc. Moreover, there are a number of books regarding mineralogy in Trentino and Alto Adige, including the very famous Guida Mineralogica d'Italia by Vincenzo De Michele.
For researching and collecting minerals in the territory, there are special rules I don't remember right now.
Greetings from Italy by Riccardo. _________________ Hi! I'm a collector of minerals since 1973 and a gemmologist. On Summer I always visit mines and quarries all over Europe looking for minerals! Ok, there is time to tell you much much more! Greetings from Italy by Riccardo. |

thanks a lot for your information
so I will do tourism without minerals :)
I did not really plan to do some active field rockhouding, but when hiking I always have a look on rocks and may be...
but I will study your link and have a look on mindat on a broader area.
thank you again _________________ https://www.youtube.com/user/ptitrainrouge/videos?view_as=subscriber |
