A reference source stated that agates, chalcedony, and jaspers might be found in the area, where I found this specimen.

All chalcedony specimens, some agate banding present (agate is chalcedony, and jasper is also related, all basically the same source and found together in various blends/stages. Nothing special here though, safe to give a brush scrub in warm soapy water to remove dirt. Interesting mementos of your trip for your shelf.

Thank you for helping me identify this.

I am just starting to learn about minerals, so I don't quite know how to pick the best specimens yet. I can just tell when something looks quite unique compared to the average rock. In my research, there are supposed to be very large pieces of chalcedony, but this was my first visit, so I didn't quite know what to look for.

I live here, so I am starting to see what sort of range of minerals we have here in the islands

A good website that you may not know about is Mindat. You can look up any mineral and learn all about it, find all the minerals reported in a particular locality like a single mine or a state, and many other things. Below is a link to the Mindat page for Hawaii:
https://www.mindat.org/loc-3722.html

Enjoy.
