PostPosted: Jan 31, 2022 17:58    Post subject: Pictures wanted

I recently purchased an azurite specimen partially replaced by malachite. The large crystal has malachite on the termination and one of the small crystals is broken showing botyroidal malachite on the broken side (the break is 1cm by 1cm).

I am looking for more examples of broken partial azurite pseudomorph crystals. I will be publishing my results so I need high resolution pictures. I will happily give attribution to the specimen owner and the photographer.

I hope someone can help me with this request.

What does your purchase of said specimen have to do with your need for images of similar specimens?
Are you studying this for scientific reasons?
You say you will be publishing your results.
What results?
Publish where?
Scientific community or for profit?

I'd advise providing more info when requesting that people help you by giving you access to their specimen and work.

Best of luck :-)

Some time ago Ray posted concerning this topic and asked for feedback and photos. See:

Ray - as we discussed in the one threads above, it's my opinion that the top of the specimen shown in your post has the thin azurite "veneer" chipped away from the underlying malachite pseudomorph. Others see this as natural - I just do not.

Anyway, I've attached some photos of specimens showing the interface I think you requested. Thes are not the best quality photos, but I hope they meet your needs. I have numerous other examples.

I think the first photo shows "malachite forming after azurite and the azurite is formed over malachite".

Hi Ray,

I originally EMailed you two images (one Mexican, the other from Laos) in January 2018. Do you still have those images, or would you like me to resend?

Cheers,

Kevin
