PostPosted: May 08, 2022 15:47    Post subject: Help with the locality.

Hello.

At the Genoa Mineral Show two weeks ago I purchased this Fluorite with Calcite from Illinois.
I love floaters and this specimen, although not exceptional, is a complete floater.
Unfortunately, the only indication on the locality was "Illinois".
The habit of Calcite would suggest Annabel Lee or Denton or Minerva No.1, but a trace of Malachite excludes Denton.
What do the friends of the Forum think?

Thank you very much.
Sante

I think that's a tough one ;-) Maybe from Annabel Lee? Malachite occured there in some tiny amounts like the one on your specimen. And some of the lesser-known mines from Cave-In-Rock also produced malachite but I'm not sure if they also produced such well fluorite and calcite :-/

I hope someone will know, best regards
Tobi
