Eloïsa Artola, wife of Joaquim Callén was a joy and every encounter with her was illuminated by the light of her smile. Eloïsa has left us and with her goes a way of living and a way of loving minerals.
Without a doubt, the thing she loved the most was Joaquim, lots of encouragement for him and her whole family, Elo was an extraordinary person.
I copy below what I wrote about this awful news in the Spanish FMF:
Eloïsa Artola, wife of Joaquim Callén passed away a week ago. It was very fast, it was very unexpected and it has left all of us who knew her disoriented and sad, without a doubt Joaquim the most.
Eloïsa was much more than his wife, she was the true other half of him, always smiling, always working and always helping others before herself, and so it was until the day she died.
Although not very well known she liked minerals a lot, and if they were good, then she they liked them madly.
There would be a lot to talk about Eloïsa Artola but perhaps the one who can best do it is Joaquim Callén, so we are going to leave a gap in this thread so that if the time comes, and he can, he can talk to us about Elo.
Elo, who never complained, who never stopped working, and who never stopped smiling. Her honeymoon with Joaquim was spent digging for minerals on the Island of Elba, returning on the return ship with an excess load. That already gives you an idea of how she lived with minerals, and how she liked them.
There are inevitable deaths, there are painful deaths, but there are deaths that leave a hole that cannot be filled again, and, yes, that is life, losing, losing and moving on, but how hard...
A lot of encouragement for those who must be going through the worst: Joaquim, their children and grandchildren and 'molts petons' Elo.

I’m terribly sad. She was so delightful.

This is terribly sad news. Laura and I had many conversations with Eloisa and Joaquim over the few years we knew them, and she was a joy to get to know. Our thoughts and prayers are with Joaquim and the rest of the family.

It was a great pleasure to visit with Eloisa at Tucson.
Rest in Peace, Eloisa.

I'm sad to read this. Eloïsa had something. I immediately liked her, you could feel she was a "good soul" in the best sense of the word.
My condolences to Joaquim and the family.

I didn't know Eloise, but her smile says so much.
My condolences to Joaquim and the family.
