PostPosted: Jul 30, 2022 23:03    Post subject: Question about Aquamarine

Hello,
Dr André Rostenne owned this aquamarine on orthoclase.
Since 2006 it belongs to the National Museum of Natural History of Luxembourg.
It comes from Minas Gerais, Brazil.
Do you have any additional clarification?

Hi Roger, no guarantee, but Virgem Da Lapa produced similar specimens ...

On the past that kind of pieces were offered as from 'Medina', but honestly, I don't know if that attribution was realistic or not.

Thank you Tobi, Jordi,
The answer can be found in this 2009 link from FMF:
https://www.mineral-forum.com/message-board/viewtopic.php?p=7705#7705
Aquamarine (Beryl)
Virgem da Lapa, Minas Gerais, Brazil.
450x350mm

I prefer Rostenne’s specimen.
Tobi's proposal is correct.
Jordi, you have collected a quantity of exceptional minerals from Aldaberto Giazotto, whom I met several times in Munich, in the company of Roger Titeux.
He was a great man of nuclear science in Italy and an example to follow (intellectually) for amateurs. He knew better than us minerals he collected.
I would like to thank Jordi for initiating and bringing this FMForum to life. It is an unlimited source of information. The only problem is finding it.

The photo shows Adalberto Giazotto with Roger Titeux (Nancy) examining a wulfenite from M'Fouati (Congo Brazza). Francis Coune's specimen.
Roger.
