PostPosted: Oct 01, 2022 01:35    Post subject: Munich Show (Mineralientage) 2022

The Munich show has downsized considerably this year.
Only 3 halls were open for the show and even on the opening day, several booths were still empty.
Limited crowds and visitors were seen during Friday which was not as busy as expected for an opening day.
Not sure who to blame but several dealers I spoke with mentioned that the Oktoberfest event which ends on October 3 forced some of their clients to cancel their plans.
Hopefully the show will have a good turn out today and tomorrow.

I was told that Mineralientage will resume its normal schedule in 2023 (October 27-29).

Everything that Fiebre Verde says is very true and to what it says we must add the enormous infrastructural difficulties generated by the fact that currently the entire gigantic Messe München (16 halls, 180,000 m2 and another 425,000 m2 of outdoor area) is like under reconstruction, apparently to remodel everything completely.
This has made everything much more complicated and I would almost say that it has been a generous volunteer gesture to make this year's edition that I think should be taken as a transitional edition hoping that next year it will return to normal, both in terms of dates as well as infrastructurally.

As James rightly says, much more information here: https://www.foro-minerales.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15149

Wrong info, sorry. Marcus, kindly, warned me about my incorrect view :

The Munich Messe will not be be remodeled!!!!

In 2 weeks the worldwide largest fair about construction machines will start at the whole fair ground. That is the reason every parking space is occupied. And that is the reason you saw so many construction machines and huge fair pavilions around.

This fair is held normally in February, but this year due to corona they had changed it to October.

Hi,
I also visited the Munich show this year on Friday.
As much as the quality of Masterpieces was exceptional, the atmosphere was cold.
Already in 1977, I visited the Mineralientage, on the same date (in total, about forty annual visits). The big scaffoldings of the big dealers were not many.
The halls were located in the center of the city, not far from the Cathedral.
The Oktoberfest (beer festival) on the Theresienwiese ends on the 1st weekend of October. There was never any competition from the Munich show, perhaps even more tourists came to the Mineralientage.
However, we were young and it was a party during the show and after...This year 2022, I have not been able to drink a single beer in a glass. Look at the photo. No wonder Belgian Abbey beers are taking over.
More than the real organizational difficulties (presence of a major industrial fair in preparation (huge cranes, etc.), the organizers had lost the enthusiasm of the Founder Johannes Keilmann (1964). I think so. In addition, there is an atmosphere of war that throws the public back to a difficult present.
But personally, for me (and many other visitors) it was an excellent Munich, maybe even one of the best…

Wonderful impressions from Mineralientage, I can really recommend the many photos on the Spanish forum! And for those who want to see some more material, Bryan Swoboda from Bluecapproductions is releasing several videos from the show:

Thank you so much for these great impressions, Roger!
Just one correction, the green octahedral fluorite in https://www.mineral-forum.com/message-board/viewtopic.php?p=79543#79543 is not from Erongo / Namibia but from Riemvasmaak / South Africa.

Not obvious Tobi, there are also fine octahedral Fluorites from Erongo and the matrix behind not seems exactly from Riemvasmaak.
I doubted too, but with the doubt I prefer not change it.
Thanks!

I'm sorry to disagree, Jordi, but I have seen this certain specimen on the Munich report on the Spanish FMF forum, it was for sale at the MCP booth of Federico Pezzotta and it IS from Riemvasmaak :-)

Hi Tobi, Jordi,
Thank you for correcting me. Yes I made a mistake.
Excuse me Jordi and alii.
I found the dealer's label. The origin of this fluorite is: Riemvasmaak, Kakamas, Kai! Garib, ZF Mgcawu, Northern Cape, South Africa.
