PostPosted: Jan 25, 2023 13:32    Post subject: Iolite and big quartz crystals from BC Canada

I search for new gemstone deposits in BC Canada. This is my Blue Bear claim where I find iolite and quartz crystals. The iolite occurs in metamorphic rock and the quartz crystals occur in pockets in pegmatite that crosscut the metamorphic rock. I also found a rare blue quartz crystal up there.

I thoroughly enjoy your posts! I have not been to many quarries or other collecting sites, but I am thrilled finding even mediocre specimens. I cannot imagine finding some of the specimens you have found.

Reminds me a lot about the Swiss "strahlers" in the Alps - same environment, same working conditions, same alpine-type quartz finds. Amazing.
