PostPosted: Dec 31, 2024 13:33    Post subject: mim Museum supports FMF!

The mim in Beirut has taken the decision that from January 2025 it will support FMF. We are deeply grateful for their backing, especially given this means that the plans we have for an 'FMF foundation' may become a possibility.

From now the mim banner will be shown on the top of the forum as an indication of their support for FMF

The Mim Musem is a profit free, informative and public focussed museum, whose aim is to promote science, culture and mineralogy. It opened on October 12 2013 in Beirut in the centre of the Saint Joseph University campus. This museum exists thanks to Salim Eddé, Lebanese businessman, philanthropist and collector, in it they display examples from his private mineral collection.

Photos of specimens in the museum are can be seen in this FMF post that is frequently updated: The MIM Museum in Beirut, Lebanon and with another format in Minerals Gallery of MIM Museum .

Carles Manresa published a great report on the museum What does the mim Museum and it minerals mean

Our deep gratitude to Salim Eddé and the entire team at the Museum mim

I think/hope this is good news but it's not clear what: "The mim in Beirut has taken the decision that from January 2025 it will work with FMF" means. Specifically - what does "will work with" mean.

thanks,
bob

On the Spanish side the word 'apoyar' is used, which translates to 'support'. I translated it as 'work with'. We will find out what this means, but it is good news as FMF's future was not certain before this

To avoid confusion, I think 'supports' is better; I have already changed it.

Afterward, I'll write a more complete text about the meaning of the new relationship/support between FMF and mim.

Congratulations to FMF and all of you who have worked hard to keep it going. If this news means that fmf will be with us for a good long time going forward, it is great news indeed!

Great news.

We thank MIM Museum for its generosity and involvement in the spread of mineral culture throughout the world.

Great news indeed. I am convinced both will grow from this alliance.
From my side, it gives me yet another reason to visit the mim museum sooner than later.

I've already met Jordi in person, and would be happy to meet again. But I have still to meet Salim and "talk rocks" with him.
I look forward to the day that will happen; for me, it will be a day to never forget.

To all: our very best wishes for 2025, hoping we will all work together towards a more peaceful society, where mutual respect is more important than expanding territorial borders.

Cheers, Herwig & Christine (Belgium, Spain & USA)

I have not been in Beirut since about 1998 so, sadly, I have not visited the mim. It is on my bucket list but disability makes such trips hard

Maybe we should join forces. I could help to make your trip more enjoyable.
In return, I would have the pleasure of your company.

Maybe organize an FMF trip to the city and to mim? We could provide translation services - ES, CA, DE, NL, EN, FR, PR

Great idea, I'll talk with Salim about it!
