PostPosted: Jan 14, 2025 09:11    Post subject: Help identifying this rock from India

Posting on behalf of a friend in India, so I don't actually have the rock to personally inspect, just these two images.

It was found at the confluence of two rivers in Pune, Maharashtra, India. The rock recently split in two (with no force) revealing the core as shown in one of the images.

Not quite sure what it is, so any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks,
Kevin.

I guess it is a piece of an agate revealing horizontal banding with quartz and white opal, which is the fragile part.
