Oh yes, Wednesday...Jim had to fly out to Texas for business so I dropped him at the airport and head over to the Inn Suites where I spent some time checking out minerals and saying hi to friends.

This is the amazing Cynthia Monnich of Cinderhill.
She is wire wrapping minerals and stones, quite impressive!
Seems she got to know our Daughter-In-Law and they talked quite a bit. I stopped by to say hello and visit.

I am off to bed, busy day tomorrow. If it is not raining I am going hiking with Jamie from the AMNH. Then change and clean up..head to the show. Jim will fly in and meet me there. We have the MAD dinner to attend where F. Pezzotta will be our guest speaker. Then we head out to a party after that...so will be a very long day.
I am just plain old tired and can't stay awake enough to finish up tonight, but hope to post more later!
night all, and night to Linda Vanegas Smith who is just chomping at the bit to be here. We miss you Linda!!!

Gail,
I just wanted to say thank you for all the time and effort you have put into keeping "we who can not attend" the Tucson informed on this years happening, the people, the places and most importantly the minerals. I have really appreciated my daily Tucson fix

Gail-

Thank you so much for posting these updates - the kids and I sit here and look at them and "ohhh and ahhh" over all of the minerals. Being able to meet in person all of these wonderful mineral folks ... what a privilege! We can only hope that we get to make it out there next year. Again, thanks for letting us enjoy the show through you and Jim.

Thank you, Gail ;-) But as you see, i'm not the only one highly pleased by your detailed reports. TGMS is such a great event, and your reports - which indeed are much more detailed and personal than any others i know on the net - are really a pleasure to those who have to sit in freezing cold Europe instead of having a good time in the Sonoran Desert. So go on with that great mixture of impressions that show people and rocks, rocks, rocks :-)

Cheers!

PostPosted: Feb 12, 2010 10:17    Post subject: Re: Gail Spann's Tucson photo fest, 2010.

Hey everyone, sorry I haven't posted as I was in charge of the organization of the MAD dinner last night and the fact that Jim had flown to Dallas, then Houston on Wednesday, but couldn't find a flight after getting to Dallas to fly back to Tucson. ( He had business he had to deal with and had booked these flights ages ago. )
I spent the day at the national park to go hiking with some museum ladies and then cleaned up and went to the Main show day one.
I missed Jim so badly, and I didn't hover too much at our case, but rather walked around and then went to the Society of Mineral Museum professionals meeting. I offered to host an event of "Meet the curators" during Tucson of next year. Then I left and went to greet those coming into the dinner, all the while hoping Jim would arrive...he had been on a plane on the runway and waiting their turn, as they de-iced the plane last I had heard. Well, he came walking in the door and my heart just leaped at the sight of him!
Tired, but glad to be back in Tucson, he was greeted by all.
After a great dinner we head over to Marshall and Charlotte Sussman's party.
When I got back I looked at the computer and then the bed. Well, sorry.....sleep won!
Off for the day, but hope I can add some great photos later!!! Cheers all, thanks for the very kind results!
Oh..by the way, Dave Wilber was taken, by ambulance, from the Main show to the hospital, but we heard they were releasing him last night....will let you know more as I hear the news. I can't help but see him with that rose in his mouth from this show report. Later!!!!

I hope you are enjoying yourself as well Gail. I know how much I cherish your reports, but I also want to be sure you are not getting run down, or missing out on anything yourself, including time with family and friends.

Take care,
Craig.
