Thank you for the photos! I'm on the way to Tucson now - very excited - looking forward to meeting lots of people and lots of rocks.

Thanks for sharing the pictures, Linda.
I always love those apatites from Cerro de Mercado. Aside from being such nice gemmy crystals, the deposit is very unusual--crystalline hematite (martite) and apatite in vuggy ore associated with volcanic rock. (I've never been there, but it would be a neat place to visit--I'm certain Peter Megaw has been there!)
And, it was nice meeting you in Tucson too.
Pete
P.S., notice, I'm being totally anachronististic here and just calling it "apatite"--instead of being more proper with fluorapatite or (heaven forbid) apatite-(CaF) (grin).

Thanks Pete for the comments and the info. I too would love to go. Who knows, maybe one day. By the way, it was great meeting you in Tucson and am sorry I didn't get to your booth during the main show. I am afraid I developed a case of ADD. too much to see and too many directions.

Well, it has been a while but here are a couple of favorites of mine.
This is from Morenci and collected by a good friend of mine. It measures 7cm by 6 cm and the crystals are mm to .5 cm in size.
Mineral: | Azurite |
Locality: | Morenci Mine, Morenci, Copper Mountain District, Shannon Mountains, Greenlee County, Arizona, USA | |

Another new acquisition is a 1.5 cm crystalline gold specimen from the DeMaria-Garbe Mine, Michigan Bluff Mining District, Placer County, California. This is a pre-1950 specimen out of the DeMaria Collection. I love the mm sized quartz crystal in the middle of the "bow tie"

Hello and welcome Linda,
It is wonderful to see a collector as yourself make the transition from mineral of the month to posting photographs of serious minerals on a site such as Jordi's. This is rare, in my experience. Now, stretch your own envelope! Again, welcome.

Hi Linda,
I like your gold with quartz wrapped in '81 papers. Very cool contrast!
Had that mine been closed?
What operating localities could equal this piece nowadays?
Cheers, Gar
