I know that the raspberrry grossular garnets from Mexico are frequently found with vesuvianite. Most of the images I have seen of these specimens don't show particularly large vesuvianite with the garnets. Is the size of these vesuvianite crystals unusual?

The overall size is 14 cm long, 8.5 cm tall, and about 6 cm deep

This is not unusual. Much of the earlier material that Graham Sutton and I produced from here was like this.

I have a single crystal 8 cm on a side and have seen them up to 20 cm long
