At Pomona show I saw some Chinese mineral dealers selling this pink stuff, it is cheap but don't know what is it? Is it labgrow?

Yes, it is labgrow. We analyzed it and it is an impossible chemical composition to be natural. When I'll back to Barcelona I will publish copy of the analysis here.

Hi,
these "cuties" are often labelled "corundum" or "ruby". As Jordi wrote, it´s a synthetic "mineral"...

Here is the analysis. Is a "Corundum" intergrown with "Fluorite". The paragenesis is near impossible and the Fluorite looks like molten, so = synthetic.

Upper analysis = "Corundum" Lower analysis = "Fluorite" |

Hi,We called it Lepidolite.
hardness:2.5-3 specific gravity:2.8-3.3

This is interesting stuff, it looks nice; clear crystals in and on a matrix. I'm wondering though if it is a by-product of some industrial process or wether these specimens were made on purpose?
The lepidolite photo's I saw on Mindat didn't look like the photo posted here, is it really the same stuff but synthetic?

Hello to all.
Well, In this case the difference in hardness is easy to see. This mineral scratches glass.
The matrix is difficult to see and catalog and we can see holes on it.
The Lepidolite is a discredited mineral by the IMA.
Sorry for not make best photos...
Best regards from South of Spain...

Estimated Jordi, thanks for the analisys of such very rare specimen, please do you know the level of cromiun present in the corundum? I will really appreciate if such information could be given by you in this post. Thanks in advance....

Understood estimated Jordi, but really using fluorite is one ultrasmart choice, congrats to the maker of this synthetic, if in someway you can sent to me one small piece, I will be glad to obtain the quantity of chromiun present on ruby crystal in chinese pink material if possible. In the other hand the "artifact" described in the other post, extremelly resenble to ramaura rubies, and I thind the green material is PbF2 overcharged with excess of chromiun, the crystal habit and paragenesis is matching the synthesis of corundum in laboratories from
PbF2-PbO fluxes plus some bismuth used in ramaura Labs
PbF2 produces corundum plates
PbO produces equidimensional preferably crystals
