PostPosted: Feb 11, 2009 12:33    Post subject: Bad News - Cancelling the party!!

Bad news! Sometimes the best plans go awry. It now appears that many, many of the people who indicated they would come to our little party cannnot make it for one reason or another. This number is go great that I suspect no more than a few people will actually show up. For this reason we are reluctantaly cancelling the party. For those who do not get this message in time I will be there at 4:00 and happy to share a drink with you.

So very sorry.

Jordi and I had scheduled a small party for Forum contributors at the restaurant El Minuto, but so many of them could not attend it due mostly to the new rules in the Main Show which forced them to put their exhibits in the show cases Wednesday between 4 and 8, which was just when we had planned the meeting, so we had to cancel it very late. Some did not get the cancellation message so I was there to greet those who showed up and we had a good time getting to know one another.

Someone at the party had a camera, not me. Please publish your photos here, it would be appreciated!

I was so sad to miss it, heard there was still a good showing. But none of us knew till there, and we only had three days notice about putting a couple of cases in the Main show.
I want to thank you for being there John, I know we all appreciate it.

Gail,

Tucson is always like that, a little bit uncertain. This Wednesday John also had an unexpected compromise at 5 PM and my helper Parés was a little bit sick, so I also was not so much available.

This year was just the first tempt and we learned a lot. Next year will be fine, not Wednesday and not at 4:00 (bad time for many dealers and customers) but at 6:00, when everybody have more or less finished their compromises and is still before the supper time. I think that Tuesday 9th February between 6 and 7 would be great.

2010 is still far, but I hope that next year and with all this time in advance we can do a really funny party!

Jordi

I hope everyone will return home safely and relaxed from Tucson...!
I'm now having breakfast at Phoenix sky harbour, and hope to see my Veronique again tomorrow morning. I met lots and lots of nice people in Tucson, thanks again Gail for all the introductions! I had lots of fun, and... I bought some nice floaters ;-)
Let's see to what countries 2009 will bring me, and I hope to see you all again in 2010 in Tucson healthy&happy...
Cheers! Frank

I copy here part of a post of Pete Modreski in the Gail's thread, in order to keep coherent this other thread.

Here's one picture I wanted to post to the Forum; our informal (officially cancelled, but it still took place in reduced form) meet-for-a-drink-and-chat rendezvous at El Minuto, Wednesday afternoon the 11th. We had a few beers or other things (on Jordi's tab, as I understand it, thanks very much!) and a very nice talk, several or most of us meeting in person for the first time. Here's the photo I took, and I'll put the names in the caption, as far as I remember them!

Best wishes to all,
Pete

Jordi, thanks for moving my post & picture to this topic thread. I'll look forward to a get-together next year!

And I meant to add to my post (and now, I suppose this comment belongs back on the other thread), that Gail & Jim's case in Tucson was really great (for being a "last-minute" addition to the show?), as was the HAMS case to--and very many others, of course.

After I do have time to look at everything Gail posted and see what's there, I may add a few more pictures of my own.

all the best,
Pete

It was such a joy to meet you Pete. I have at least a couple of photos of you in my rogue's gallery show report!
Thanks for the nice words.
